N.C. of St A/lary's College APRIL 1, 1965 St. Mary's Prepares for Annual Spring Festival by Sarah Dowling The coldest, ugliest months of the year are at a close and preparations for the 1985 Spring Festival are underway. Spring Festival, which has long been a tradition at St. Mary’s, promises to be better than ever this year. This spring the festivai wili be held Friday, April 19. There will be an altered class schedule for the day, and the festi vities will begin soon after lunch. There will be performances by the three dance groups, the Mime troupe, the Chorale, Cold Cuts, and Sea Saints. The highlight of the day wili be the traditionai presen- tatin of the May Court at three o’clock. A new part of Spring Festivai this year wiii be the Queen’s Ball which wiil be heid at the Holiday Inn North from nine to one o’ciock. It will be a black tie occasion featuring Jim Crisp’s Combo. Parents, students, and alumni are welcome. There will be limited tickets available at five doliars per person. Annie Gray Sprunt from Wiimington is May Queen this year. Throughout her four years here Annie Gray has partici pated in aimost every aspect of life at St. Mary’s. It is her third year to be on the Court. She is currently in the Circle, Scoop, and Hall Council. She is in the vestry and a marshal. During her high school years she was Spider and an Undadette. She was president of her ciass her junior year. Annie Gray is also a KA little sister. She plans to travel abroad this summer and hopes to attend Hollins Coiiege next fall. Anne Duncan Bailey .from Rocky Mount, also a four year girl, is the Maiden of Honor this year. She has been on the May Court three years. She is now involved in Hall Council, WATS, and Scoop. She is the head marshal. She was secretary of her class for three years and in the Undadettes. She has also been very much involved in sports, playing on the basketball team three years, tennis - team one year, and golf team one year. She hopes to attend Hollins College next year. Anne Rice is one of the senior repre sentatives from Raleigh. She is a four year girl. This is Anne’s second year to be on May Court. She is a marshal, a hall counselor, and in the Sea Saints. Mimi Fisher is a senior representa tive from Salisbury who has been here three years. She is Vice-Chairman of Judicial Board and has been on Hall Council and the nominating comittee for the SGA. She is a member of the Circle and the Letter Club. She was also on the soccer team. Outside of school Mimi runs, rides horses, and models in New Yorl^. She plans to attend the University Annie Gray Sprunt, Spring Queen of Georgia next fall. The third representative is Meg Adams from Greensboro. She has been at St. Mary’s for three years and on May Court for two years. She is a member of WATS, a marshal, and Madame Spider. In high school she was a Spider. Meg has been on the tennis team for three years. She hopes to attend the University of North Carolina next fall. Harriet Little, who came to St. Mary’s as a junior, is also a senior repre sentative on the court. She is now Presi dent of SGA, a member of Hall Council, Legislative Body, and the Board of Trus tees. She is also an acolyte, lay reader, and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Harriet is going to school at Chapel Hill next year and majoring in biology. Robin Bryant, a four year girl from Raleigh, is also a senior representative. She is Head Counselor of Smedes and on Dorm Council. She was secretary-trea surer of her junior class and on The Beiies staff. Robin has also been in volved with an internship this year. Out side of school she enjoys playing tennis. Robin will be an art major at the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Anna Dunn Bailey. Maid of honor Kimbrough Mobley from Atlanta is one of the May Court junior representa tives. This is Kimbrough’s third year at St. Mary’s and her third year on the May Court. She was the president of the Undadettes last year and is an acolyte and lay reader. She is also a member of the Legislative Bcrty. Shannon Hines is a junior represen tative from Johnson City, Tennessee. It is her second year at St. Mary’s. Shannon loves to water ski. She hopes to attend SMU next fall. The third junior representative of the court is Alice Hemingway of Tarboro, N.C. This is Alice’s second year at St. Mary’s. She has been involved with the swim team, the diving team, and the Sea Saints. She is also in the foreign lan guage club and on the projects com mittee. Mary Eccles Cheatham is from Greenville, N.C. She is the Junior War den and a member of the Scoop. In high school she was a member of Undadettes and Spiders. Lindy Turner is the sophomore re presentative from Weldon, N.C. She is now Underclassman Vice-President, and she is on Dorm Council, Hall Council, and Legislative Body. Lindy is also a member of the Honor Society and the Beacon. Also representing the sophomore class is Noelle Hicklin from Burlington. Noelle is a member of Undadettes, the diving team, the letter club, and the for eign language club. She enjoys running. Noelle will either go to Chapel Hill or Georgetown University next year. Sally Maddison, a sophomore, is a day student from Raleigh. This is her second year on May Court. She was the secretary of her freshman class and is treasurer of the Beacon and president of [Continued on page 4]
